On to Salzburg!

We're now on the train to Salzburg! I'm going to really miss Prague, but I'm excited to see Salzburg and Vienna.

On our last full day in Prague we went to the instrument museum. It was so cool! There were so many instruments that I've never seen before. There was a quarter tone piano, some really weird looking brass instruments that sounded super cool (one was called the serpent), old bassoons, flutes, trumpets, horns, harps, and clarinets, a hardanger fiddle, and quarter tone clarinets! I thought the hardanger fiddle was cool because my great uncle had one and played it. That was really cool to see one in a museum. And we got to hear the quarter tone clarinets.... It was so cool! There was also an A bass clarinet which was also very interesting.

After the museum, we went to the John Lennon wall. It's this graffiti wall that was a symbol of the peoples' small rebellion while the wall was up. The young people put up a portrait of John Lennon and a bunch if his song lyrics. During the day the wall would be painted over, but then at night the people would re cover the wall. On our way there, Lydia found out a group had painted over the wall in white and put "the wall is over" on it a while ago so we weren't sure if we'd be able to see the wall. But we got there and it was completely redone and it was really cool! The artists had changed the "the wall is over" to "the wall is forever" which was cool to see because we just heard about it.

After the wall, Claire, Megan and I went to lunch on this boat restaurant. It was so nice! We had a great view, the servers were so nice, and the food was amazing. After lunch we went to the clock tower and went to the top. At the top the view was amazing and there was this guy who played trumpet every hour on the hour to announce the time. We started talking to him and he let Claire play his trumpet! We made a new friend in Prague! After that we went to the market and did some more souvenir shopping. We got the great Czech pastries that are little spirals and we had Nutella in them.

That evening we went to a string quartet concert in the Saint Martin's church in the wall. This concert was so cool! I haven't listened to many string quartets, but I will start now! They were so good and it was so fun to listen to. I really liked the intimate setting too. It felt very relaxed and just like 4 friends got together and wanted to play. They played a lot of great pieces too.

This morning we got up early to head to the train, and now we're on this train for a few hours. I can't wait to see Salzburg!
