Day of Bach and Strange Penny's

Annalise and Collin see something captivating!

You know you are a big deal when you make the center of a stained glass window!
Placed flowers on Herr Bach's tomb marker!

A replica of the instrument Bach built.

Today we walked in J. S. Bach's footsteps.  We visited St. Nicklaus Kirche where the St. John Passion was first performed, then went to St. Thomas where the Master was employed until he died.  Some of the students put flowers on his tomb.  It was very sweet.  Then we went to the Bach Museum that is filled with fascinating information about J.S. and the multi generations of musical family members.

Later that evening we went to Kurt Weil's Three Penny Opera.  After a terrifying 30 minutes where I thought we might not get in, misunderstanding solved, we entered.  It was very sparse, the only real set were giant letters.  The orchestra was fabulous.  The singing was okay, not trained opera, more like theater.  The acting was fabulous.  The concept of staging and modified libretto was strange but very typical German "new art."  But it was an enjoyable show to say the least.
