Today began earlier than I was hoping. After about 25-30 hours of travel my internal clock was so messed up that I was still only able to get 5 hours of sleep. To help get acquainted with the culture I went for a walk by myself around 6 a.m. and got to see a lot of stores open up. Many people were walking or riding their bikes to work and the streets were fairly silent. A major difference between Leipzig and cities back home is that the downtown is very quiet, clean, and filled with green transportation.
Will, Annalise, and I went on a tour of an old government building called the Krieg with a stone tower that looked over the entire city of Leipzig. To get up there we had to use a giant spiral staircase that took us a couple hundred of feet above street level. The views were incredible and it made me realize how beautiful all of the architecture is in this wonderful city. Now we are sitting in a Café resting our feet and getting ready for round 2! Last night I had Wiener Schnitzel and tonight I'm going to the Potato House. I'm loving this German food!
Thanks for the commentary (all who wrote!) and the pics! love to see and hear of your adventures! Unfortunately, some of the blog background is dark, and it is a bit difficult to read all the words of the posts. :] Enjoy! - Will's mom
